Concord, CA | April 13, 2018 – After a much anticipated off-season, the time has finally come for young Joey Ancona to strap back into his Ancona Motorsports, CS9 Chassis No. 88A and start his 2018 campaign. Chasing his second-career King of California crown, the 13-year old native of Concord, California will be running the full eight-race slate between four different tracks in the stacked Super 600 division. Kick starting a new year behind the wheel, “Joey Rocket” will hit the track this weekend as he tackles Dixon Speedway on Friday night and Stockton’s Delta Speedway on Saturday night.
Heading to most northern track in the “Golden State,” Ancona will make his 2018 season debut at Dixon, California’s Dixon Speedway on Friday night. Serving as the opener to the King of California series, Ancona will compete solely in the premier Super 600 class. A multi-time winner at the 1/6th mile facility, the rising star has picked up several big wins in Dixon including a Restricted CA Speedweek victory in 2016 and the Lonnie Kaiser Memorial title last year.
Driving about one hour away on Saturday, the Ancona Motorsports group will make their way to Stockton, California’s Delta Speedway. The second of eight races in the King of California series, Ancona will hit the 1/7th mile clay oval for the first of many visits in 2018. As a former Restricted track champion in 2014 at the age of nine, Ancona has already seen loads of success at the Stockton facility and looks to continue that trend as he gains momentum into the Super 600 class.
Chasing the King of California championship as part of his big 2018 plans, Ancona will compete in eight total events with two races apiece at the four “Golden State” micro sprint tracks of Dixon Speedway, Delta Speedway, Plaza Park Raceway and Lemoore Raceway. Outside of his schedule in his home state, Ancona plans on traveling to two of the largest paying races in the country. The first being the $10,000/Win High Banks Hustle at Southern Illinois Raceway in June and the second being the $10,000/Win Clay Cup Nationals at Deming Speedway in July.
