TULSA, OKLA. (January 16, 2020) – If Christopher Bell is to extend his record run of consecutive preliminary night victories to five straight, he’ll have to beat arguably the toughest qualifying roster of the week at Chili Bowl. The likes of Seavey, McDougal, Bayston, T-Mez, Coons, Golobic, Bodine, Felker, Shuman, Stratton, Darland, Allgaier, Neuman, Kofoid, Cottle, Miller, and so many more will look to play spoiler to CBell and Boat in their maiden run as a tandem.
Going on four-straight Thursday triumphs, Bell hasn’t been beat on this night since 2015, when he came out of the B-Main to run fifth behind Jerry Coons Jr., Andrew Deal, Kevin Swindell and Ryan Bernal. This go round, Bell won’t be in the familiar Keith Kunz Motorsports entry, instead he’s teamed with Tucker-Boat Motorsports to drive the iRacing, Pristine Auction, Toyota No. 84X.
In Bell’s way to victory lane is a host of stout contenders. Among the many challengers, Logan Seavey in the Swindell Speedlab No. 39 will be one of the biggest. Along with Seavey, Bell has to deal with Shane Golobic, an always consistent front runner in the Matt Wood Racing No. 17W.
Jerry Coons Jr., the last man to beat Bell on Thursday in 2015, will be racing for Petry Motorsports. Cole Bodine, who ran third in his Wednesday prelim last year, is back with Clauson-Marshall Racing in the Driven 2 Save Lives No. 39BC entry. Jason McDougal, who is still after his first-career Chili Bowl main event start, pilots the potent FMR No. 76M. Spencer Bayston goes for Hayward Motorsports and Thomas Meseraull guides an RMS Racing No. 7X.
From there, the competition presents us with the likes of Justin Allgaier, a former podium finisher in Saturday’s finale. Andrew Felker will be pursuing his 11th consecutive preliminary feature start and a second career lock-in effort. Veterans Dave Darland, Danny Stratton, Casey Shuman and Shane Cottle will all be part of the action.
You also have to count on the potential of Andrew Deal, Buddy Kofoid, Holley Hollan, Jake Neuman, Joe B. Miller and others to challenge come feature time.
