Lemoore, CA | April 26, 2018 – Making his first trip of the new season to Lemoore Raceway on Saturday night, Concord, California’s Joey Ancona walked out with a perfect one-for-one record in the Super 600 division. Tackling the Lemoore, California 1/5th mile for the first time in 2018, the 13-year old guided his Ancona Motorsports, CS9 Chassis, Factory Kahne No. 88A into the lead on lap three and never looked back, taking his first win of the year in dominating fashion. With a trip to victory lane behind him, Ancona now returns his focus to the King of California Series with a doubleheader of Plaza Park Raceway and Lemoore Raceway on tap.

Opening last weekend with a visit to Visalia’s Plaza Park Raceway, a last-minute decision was made to go ahead and pull double duty between the Super 600 and Non-Wing classes. After working through his preliminary races, Ancona rolled out with a third-place starting position in the Super 600 main event. Experiencing a slight hiccup on the opening lap, the young gun fell several spots before recovering his No. 88A. Track conditions, however, left the 13-year old with little to gain as he rode out the 30-lapper and finished seventh. Transitioning over to the Non-Wing feature, Ancona ended his night on a better note as he worked his way from seventh to a fourth-place run.

Heading down the road to Lemoore Raceway on Saturday night, Ancona was once again slated for double duty. Working his way through qualifying and heat races, the young man garnered a front row start in the Super 600 feature and fifth row slot in the Non-Wing main. Running wingless first, Ancona advanced from ninth-to-sixth in a respectable run for a driver who enters with limited Non-Wing experience.

Rolling out from the outside pole of the Super 600 feature, Ancona dropped into the second spot at the drop of the green flag. Wasting little time, he reeled in the race leader and made his move for the top spot on the third lap. After piloting his No. 88A into the lead, Ancona would lead the final 27 laps with ease, dominating the main event for his first win of the season!

Looking to carry that momentum into this weekend, Ancona will once again return for a doubleheader at Plaza Park and Lemoore. With a little bit more on the line this time, the King of California Series rolls into town with valuable championship points at stake. After a pair of podium results with the KoC Series at Dixon and Delta two weeks ago, Ancona will look to extend his strong start to the season.
